yes, and no. no, i never once considered following in my mother's brave footsteps and working the practical side of medicine... i have no stomach for it.

but, for a very brief time, i explored the idea of becoming a psychologist or a psychiatrist... i've always been told that i'm a good listener, and a family member encouraged me to see if i could make a living at it... needless to say, that was definitely not my thing.

though i did explore it. in high school, i was a peer counselor, which included taking some classes in psychology, but beyond that, i get too close to those i'm supposed to be impartially counseling... i'm too emotional, too empathetic to keep a professional distance... so i write. and i make jewelry :)

but my mother? she's one of my heroes, because she works hard, every day, giving tirelessly of her heart and soul so that her patients will heal.

dunno if anyone has anything they're dying to know, but...

okay, first of all i gotta set a moment and think about the stories because honestly, i often forget what i wrote in a story LOL

hm. i s'pose the first one should be Banshee's Honor (web version: http://www.geocities.com/shaych3/bh01.htm) because it forced me to write out of my comfort zone (fanfiction) and because after years of sweat and heartache, it got published :D

next we'll take a trek down memory lane and go with Moral Dilemma (http://www.geocities.com/shaych3/morald.htm) since it was the first ever fanfic i wrote.

and to accompany that, The Anti Uber, Uber Xena Story (http://www.geocities.com/shaych3/antiuber.htm) and its mate, Thump or Hump: Not a Sequel to the Anti Uber, Uber Xena Story (http://www.geocities.com/shaych3/thump.htm) because they were an absolute hoot to plot (what plot?) and write :D

trekking over to the Buffyverse, Sometimes Angels Fall (http://www.geocities.com/shaych3/saf.htm) because it was the first time i actively sought to write angst with a happy ending, and it worked and people loved it :)

annnnnnnnnnnnd rounding out, RIFTU or Resurrection is for the Unbelievers (http://www.geocities.com/shaych3/riftu01.htm), because you just KNEW i wouldn't make a list without this monster :) i had so much fun playing with these characters and sometimes i secretly wish that i'd saved the story idea for original characters... because it really was that fun to play around with ... and i did start a sequel but got distracted. who knows, maybe i'll unearth it someday :)

there are of course, more stories that i've written and loved... but these were exemplary. currently, i'm about 130 pages into what may well be #6 on this list... it's another story set in the same land as Banshee, but with characters who are making me hone my writer's chops :)

(I HIGHLY reccommend this author to anyone who enjoys Chinese mythology with a fantasy twist... Bridge of Birds, The Story of the Stone and Eight Skilled Gentlemen are some of the best books I've ever read and I go back to them again and again just to immerse myself in the sheer richness of their text.)
