Ground Rules: Name your Top 20 List Of Lust, in no particular order. Your neighbor or grade school teacher doesn't count. Neither does Angelina Jolie, as she is automatically assumed to be on the list of any human being with a pulse. The list can be male, female or mixed. They can be real life celebrities, or characters in a movie or TV show. Tag 5 people on your flist to do this meme.
I think I'll follow along and do fictional characters too... no stalkers here ;)
No.Particular.Order. since i'm like, kind of zonky and not inclined to reorganize by favorite (should i truly have one)
i already know i'm a fan of redheads... so if there's a proliferation... hee oh well :)
1. Casey Novak (played by Diane Neal) - strong, compassionate, takes no bullshit and can still do it while managing NOT to look like a million bucks. imperfection is what makes us all unique. Blonde or Bloody... i don't care, just gimme my Casey (though I'd prefer her red, cuz I loooooooves me some redheads ;)
2. Jamie Sommers (played by Lindsey Wagner) - my first TV crush
followed swiftly by
3. Diana Prince/Wonder Woman (played by Lynda Carter)
and
4. Kelly Garrett (played by Jacklyn Smith) - All three of these lovely ladies shaped my childhood with their adventures. They didn't scream and hide when the icky things happened... The stood up, grabbed a gun, or punched the bad guy, or chased after them with their special powers and showed this little girl that it was okay to be tough.
5. Tannim - this guy is a power wizard with a soft spot for kids... he's been chewed up, spit out, trod on, kicked around, had his body mangled by all sorts of unseelie nasties and yet he still comes out on the side of light. and he does it while humming They Might Be Giants tunes.
6. (in the same universe, created by Mercedes Lackey) Diana Tregarde - romance novelist by day, Guardian Mage/practicing witch all the time. If you say, "I need help" - she's there, even at the cost of her own soul. And yet, she has the courage to look beyond the surface of one scary seeming guy and see the heart of a lamb...
7. Gabrielle, Bard, Warrior and Soulmate (played by Renee O'Connor) - innocence, strength and loyalty... even when all is lost, at the end of everything, she never loses faith in Xena.
8. MacKenzie "Mac" Allen (played by Geena Davis) - sharp. witty. bold. can stand her ground with political snakes hissing at her ankles... and yet, there's a core of humanity within her that makes her both flawed and strong... her insecurities are what make her a better person, and a great president.
9. Barbara Gordon/Oracle - (as played by Dina Meyer on Birds of Prey) - driven. intense. uncompromising. yet able to admit that she has failed. strong enough to take what could have been a life ending injury and turn it into an asset for those that fight the dark elements of Gotham.
10. Christa Cruitaire - (from Gael Baudino's Gossamer Axe) - a woman who will go through time itself, drawing upon the magics of an elven harp just so that she may one day free her lover from those very same elves... *sigh* and she comes from an ancient version of ireland where love was just love, and the physical body mattered not. Christa's hope and her knowledge of music is all that she has to save her beloved Judith, and with some help from the modern world of rock n roll, that's exactly what she does.
11. Kara "Starbuck" Thrace (played by Katee Sackhoff) - pilot with a bad assed attitude and the skills to back it up. not afraid to stand up for what she believes in, even if it means bucking the entire system. brazen, ballsy and butch cute. yum.
12. Shane McCutcheon (played by Kathrine Moening) - on the surface she's the love 'em and leave 'em type, always into the wrong thing, always doing what's bad for her, but inside, she's broken and wanting love so badly, she's scared of that desire... mostly I just want to cuddle the heck out of her.
13. Elizabeth Blaine - oy. given that i wrote several hundred pages of text about her... it should be no surprise that i do lust/care for this character. i know i can say for a fact that her "life" was breathed tenfold into the movies by diane neal's acting... and the way she used her body to convey all of elizabeth's tribulations... i only wish that the movies could have been longer, with less of an ensemble feel to spend more time delving into what brought her to where she was when the film opened... she's fragile, maleable, and yet there's a core of determined strength to her that you see in odd moments... she's loyal, but not blind... if she's wronged, she doesn't waffle back and forth between love/hate. either pre or post vamping, she's still an interesting character... in III, i really wish we'd gotten to know more about her life as a vampire... we see her at the end of that existence, when what remains of her soul, her strength has ebbed but not faded... and it is this that allows her to beg for ultimate release...
14. Calleigh Duquesne (played by Emily Proctor) - smart, sexy, good with guns and not at all a screaming mimi. plus she's got a killer accent.
15. Catwoman as portrayed by Halle Berry - because she was just hot.
16. Lornette "Mace" Mason (played by Angela Bassett in Strange Days) - in a not too distant future world, one that is vaguely reminiscent of the Cyberpunk genre, Mace is a bodyguard, limo driver and all around bad ass. she's tough, but she's got a soft spot for Lenny, the film's reluctant hero. She's also the physical model for my character Azhani in Banshee's Honor.
17. Josie "Jo" Sutton (portrayed by Sarah Joy Brown on Cold Case, season three) - sadly, this flawed but not broken strong woman was not allowed to stick around for more than five episodes of this excellent show, but it was still long enough for me to sit up, take notice and wonder just where the potentials could go... she coulda been a contendah...
18. Tracey Kibre (as played by the lovely BeBe Neuwirth) - cynical, but not so jaded that she has given up on the law... still driven to grab all the justice she can from the stingy paws of the legal system... dynamic, powerful, emotive and evocative... this woman injects passion into the mundanest of cases to make the jury understand how important it is to render a verdict.
19. Abby Lockheart (as played by Maura Tierney) - flawed (theme time ;) cute... competant once she realizes that she is capable of the things she sets her mind to... and did i mention that she's cute as a button?
20. Willow Rosenberg, Kate Lockley and Serena Southerlyn in a three way tie - and since two are played by the same actress (the lovely Elisabeth Rohm), it's really just a two way. Willow is the geek I've always wanted to be... who gets to rise above her geek status by finding her own power and center... and losing it, then, after a long road, finding her way back to what it means to be just Willow... Kate because she's courageous, even in the face of some scary crap... and she's not afraid to admit when she's been wrong. Serena because she tempers her zeal for the law with compassion... which doesn't alwasy set right with her boss.
there's others, and really this isn't about lust so much as characters who have made me sit up, take notice and go "wow". whether that wow was, "damn, they're hot" or "damn, i wanna be like them" or "i wanna...whatever" doesn't matter :)
hope you enjoyed following along :)
