yes, and no. no, i never once considered following in my mother's brave footsteps and working the practical side of medicine... i have no stomach for it.
but, for a very brief time, i explored the idea of becoming a psychologist or a psychiatrist... i've always been told that i'm a good listener, and a family member encouraged me to see if i could make a living at it... needless to say, that was definitely not my thing.
though i did explore it. in high school, i was a peer counselor, which included taking some classes in psychology, but beyond that, i get too close to those i'm supposed to be impartially counseling... i'm too emotional, too empathetic to keep a professional distance... so i write. and i make jewelry :)
but my mother? she's one of my heroes, because she works hard, every day, giving tirelessly of her heart and soul so that her patients will heal.
