i'm not a big L word fan... so my opinion on what i've heard of season three is pretty much "blah"

however, tonight's Without A Trace was, without a doubt, the BEST ep ever.

and for those who enjoy such things... hell of an "uberesque" story ;)

Um how did Without A Trace (never seen it) do an uberesque story?

and yeah, from what i've read on the Pack, the L Word sounds depressing. tho i liked missy's comment on comparison.

uber 1: advice columnist with a great sense of humor suffers from agoraphobia. has not been out of her house in 2 years. disappears.

uber 2: columnist's out lesbian former (just quit) personal assistant. also child of a mobster.

the upshot? it was uber 2's dad's bday. they had not spoken for 6 years, when she had come out and he had pretty much disowned her. she wanted to reconcile. but her mom told her to stay away. uber 1 is in love with uber 2 doesn't know how to tell her. so she goes, gets a gun, and gets someone to force her out of her apt. so she can take uber 2's bday gift to the dad.

in the end? Big Happy. not only does daddy accept daughter, but we get a lovely, lovely, oh so sweet kiss.

Big Uber.

so what if they both had red hair. LOL

missy's comment was like apples to oranges though. with xena we EXPECTED most of what we got... it was never given to us as a "lesbian show for and by lesbians"

the L Word has nothing I want to see. i've watched seasons one and two, and I love Queer as Folk much more. i don't get why people say that Mel and Lynds were "wooden". i loved them. even when shit was bad on QAF, someone was happy.

the L word has no happy. only pain. i'm sorry, but my life is not about pain.

i agree with Cie... if/when the l word decides to find the happy, i'll watch. otherwise... i can enjoy voyager dvds :)

ahhh. hehe. *grin*

yes, it was apples to oranges, but it still was amusing.

and i agree. there are enough sad lesbian storylines out there. we don't need more. heck, i think all my children did a happier storyline for lesbians (early on anyway) than some of what i've been reading of the l word.

as to voyager... i love the fanfic. primarily T/7, but i still love some J/7 like the just between series. voyager has the best trek fanfic on the web, by far. the show? you can keep the dvd's. i'll stick to the fic. i was so excited for a woman captain, but that show really let me down. they took a great premise, and some very good characters, and just dropped the ball. i would have loved it if they'd kept kes, still gotten 7, and jettisoned paris out an airlock. ;) plus, i remember back when jeri ryan talked about lesbianism being something 7 should/could explore, but of course those 'phobes in charge couldn't let that happen... of all the characters since tasha yar that should have at least tried on a rainbow flag... *sigh* let's not even get into even jonathan frakes being for that "androgynous" lover being more masculine, but noooo...

yeah i know all the gripes. but i've been revisiting the early voyager seasons and if you go at it without any expectations, they are entertaining. even the awful "threshold" was at least amusing on some levels. just think of how many HOURS of makeup that was for paris.

and i agree about keeping kes.

but they should have ditched chakotay. beltren seemed to love his character for a while, but then... he just gave up. became one note, wooden and boring. kes seems always fresh and intersting. and i think it would have been very interesting to see how the show handled the loss of a major crew member, not a sideline character.

um which was "threshold"? was that the one where janeway and paris mutated, mated, produced offspring, and only then got changed back??

kes rocked. seriously. i've noticed quite a few fanfic authors have brought her back somehow.

i think you're right about chakotay. besides, they came up with really stupid storylines for him after awhile.

yep that's the one. slugway and snailis. ;)

i think kes would have made an interesting foil for the j/7 dynamic and maybe inspired more t/7 stuff :)

they should have kept to chakotay's native american nature. that was interesting. and they should have given him a love interest, not paris.

paris was the rake and should have stayed that way. i would have like to have seen chakotay fall in love with someone besides the captain. only a foolish man pines for something he can't have and then steals what he hates.
