Comment to this post and I'll give you a letter. In your journal, list 10 of your favorite songs that begin with that letter. Then, post in your own, if you see fit.
Choosing 10 was not as easy as it seems...
the favorites are in no particular order...
1. Claudia Christian: Partners in the Sublime. This one is easy. It's very sexy and it's about love in all its wild forms. What's not to adore? Bonus? Claudia Christian is stunningly gorgeous.
2. Depeche Mode: People are People. I was a teenager when this song was popular. At the time, I wasn't monster fan of Depeche Mode (still am not, but i appreciate them) but I was blown away by the simple message of the song... after all, what too smart, too fat kid doesn't want everyone to just get along with them?
3. Disturbed: Pain Redefined. Good hard charging tune. This whole album (ten thousand fists) is a great album to write a fight scene to.
4. Gaia Consort: Peace Now. Back in the 60s, there was a song called "One Tin Soldier" about two people who go to war over a very special treasure... this song very much reminds of that song. Again, it's about people who fight and who need a little peace...
5. Micheal Longcor: Pennsic War IV. Absolutely hysterical little ditty about the events of an SCA event called Pensic War... this was the 4th of such historical battles.
6. Mudvayne: Pushing Through. Some days, you just gotta have an angry song.
7. Barbara Streisand: Putting it Together. Just because every list needs one "wtf" moment.
8a. if "the" doesn't count: Heart: The Perfect Goodbye. Because I had to include at least one song by my "desert island band" (that is, the one band/performer I'd want to have the entire recorded catalog to listen to if stranded upon a desert island)
8b. if "the" does count, then in all fairness, here is a proper P song. Indigo Girls: Pendulum Swinger. A very infectious song with a message.
9. Lara Fabian: Part of Me. This woman has an outstanding voice... just gorgeous. This song is so perfect for Xena and Gabrielle that if I had any kind of skill at making videos, I'd use it. (google the lyrics, you'll understand)
10. There were about 20 others that could have filled this space, but I have to go with this one. Sarah McLachlan: Possession. There are just so many memories, both good and bad, twisted up in this song that I can't ever hear it without tasting a little bit of bittersweetness.
I tried to choose the ones that stood out. I could have probably made one list of all female singers and one list of all males... and they'd both be pages long. Music is something I keep as an important part of my life... I can't imagine a day going by without it. Hopefully, those of you that read this will find something comfortably familiar and something enjoyably new.
