what shay hates
Oct. 15th, 2005 05:39 pmitems of technology that break in less than three months. i guess that i should have been warned when the first pair of Koss headphones i bought at best buy broke within 24 hours. this pair lasted just long enough that i can't take them back. so now i have a pair of broken 25 dollar headphones. for fuck's sake, my sony crapola headphones lasted for five years. i just wanted a pair that had better sound quality and a foam cover that wasn't torn. sheesh.
Update on Headphone Irritation
Oct. 15th, 2005 09:13 pmSo anyway. We go to Frys. I blanche at the 199.95 noise canceling doowopper diddly doo wah bang bang gods that was a heart attack just looking at them headphones. Move down the aisle. Panasonic 30 dollar headphones that
snuffnyc rec'd. hm. i just paid 25 bucks for the KOSS (heretofore to be known as KRAPOSS) not sure i wanna plunk even more money into the hole.
next up. off brand. 4.99. hmm. possibilities. cheap. sits on TOP of my head, not on my neck (hate those) and they rest ON the ears not IN them (not an earbud fan, no no -- ever see Star Trek II? well i have... and earbuds are far far too much like those bug things.)
but they're tiny. and i bet tinny. hmm. but they're cheap. 5 bucks. if they're crap, it's no waste. then we find even cheaper. 3 bucks. hmm. i'm tempted. 3 bucks is nice.
and then mom finds the sonys. same ones i've been buying for oh, about 15 years. only they're a little larger. thick foamy pads. a single wire instead of two ... only drawback. 10 bucks. but that IS cheaper than the 20 bucks for the same brand, "folding" headphones. hmm.
i was gonna get the cheaper ones, but mom said to go with sony. it's proven.
the only drawback i notice is the cord length is a bit short. i'm on a tight tether. but then, i could always go to radio shack and buy an extender.
on the other hand. i shoulda bought these instead of the KOSS to begin with. the sound quality is about 1000x better. the koss always sounded like i was straining to hear and it had an "inline" volume control.
lesson? the "of course" moment of the month. more expensive does not always = better. stick with what you know :)
thanks everyone for the support and feedback :)
